Coventry University launches new hub in India

The development comes as more public universities in the UK explore transnational educational opportunities in India and the region.

The India hub is the latest such establishment from Coventry University, which has similar offices located in Belgium, China, Singapore, Rwanda, and UAE.

The hub, situated at HT House in Connaught Place, opposite the British Council India’s office, will focus on strengthening existing partnerships and building new ones between the global education groups and organisations in India.

Additionally, it aims to enhance research collaborations between India and the UK, according to a statement by Coventry University.

The hub, which would be staffed by approximately 70 employees, features a minimalist corporate design crafted by the university’s interior architecture and design students.

Moreover, the new office space incorporates traditional Indian patterns alongside elements and colours inspired by Coventry University Group’s branding.

India is a significant market for Coventry, as one of the biggest recruiters of Indian students among British universities.

Over 5,000 Indian students were enrolled in different courses at the institute’s Coventry and London campuses in 2021/22.

The university collaborates with several organisations in India, including KPIT and L&T Technology Services.

It also maintains research partnerships with institutions such as the Indian Institute of Technology-Ropar, Vellore Institute of Technology, MOHAN Foundation, and GITAM University.

Furthermore, the India hub is exploring future collaboration opportunities in areas such as aviation and healthcare.

“Coventry University’s forward-thinking international approach brings fantastic benefits to our organisation and to those we work with across the globe,” said John Latham CBE, Coventry University vice-chancellor and Group CEO.

“Our new India hub is already playing a key part in enhancing our global presence and we hope it will lead to some exciting collaborations in the region.”

The university is also expected to set up a branch campus in GIFT City by late next year, although the details are yet to be finalised.

Apart from Coventry, the University of Southampton has also announced its plans to build a campus in India at the International Tech Park in Gurgaon.

The campus building is set to be completed by April 2025, with the first intake of students starting in August 2025.
